Abstract in Portuguese
Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo principal delinear o papel da Educação Permanente em Saúde e o processo de Qualificação Profissional dos Técnicos de Enfermagem da Unidade de Terapia Intensiva do Hospital Universitário Pedro Ernesto da Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro. O trabalho de campo foi realizado a partir da abordagem qualitativa através de entrevistas com os trabalhadores selecionados no local de trabalho. A análise dos dados foi elaborada mediante a transcrição das entrevistas que foram classificadas a partir das percepções dos entrevistados sobre as categorias de educação permanente e qualificação profissional. Dessa forma foi possível constatar que a educação permanente é um instrumento educacional importante para estes trabalhadores de enfermagem, encontrando-se, no entanto, muito associado ao contexto do trabalho e sem contar, ainda, com a participação efetiva destes trabalhadores na elaboração das estratégias educacionais. Quanto à qualificação profissional destes técnicos de enfermagem, foi evidenciado que apesar de toda a precariedade que cerca o mercado de trabalho e as poucas condições de crescimento profissional no próprio local de trabalho, estes trabalhadores permanecem em busca de melhores qualificações.
