A Amazônia é rica em diversidade e abundância de espécies vegetais que a colocam em condições ambientais prioritárias de conservação em âmbito mundial. O objetivo desse estudo foi levantar as competências institucionais e organizacionais relacionadas com a inovação em medicamentos oriundos da biodiversidade amazônica. Para tanto foram realizadas pesquisas, documental e bibliográfica, em instituições como: o Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPq), a Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Nível Superior (CAPES), as Fundações de Amparo à Pesquisa (FAPs), entre outras agências de fomento à pesquisa amazônica. Os resultados mostram a existência de 93 grupos de pesquisas, instaurados em 35 instituições de C,T&I se conectando por meio de redes. Cerca de dez redes de pesquisas desenvolvem parceria tecnocientífica para a geração de conhecimento e produtos. As parcerias com o setor privado ainda são incipientes e as parcerias se desenvolvem principalmente com instituições nacionais como a Embrapa e a Fiocruz.
