Este artigo tem como proposta analisar práticas e ações de combate à malária realizadas no sul dos EUA a partir de experiências do Tennessee Valley Authority, autarquia criada na década de 1930 para o desenvolvimento de vasta porção do país. Atrelada a uma gama de experiências internacionais os caminhos da autarquia ampliaram-se com ações de grupos como a Fundação Rockefeller e inferem diretamente na compreensão do combate à malária em diversos países, dentre eles o Brasil. Centrado na documentação produzida pelo TVA, por meio de pesquisa realizada nos arquivos estadunidenses, pretendemos discutir tais relações que se alinham ao contexto político e econômico das décadas de 1930 e 1940. Assim, o presente trabalho afina-se diretamente para contribuição e compreensão na historiografia trindade da malária, saúde global e TVA.
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to analyze practices and actions to combat malaria through southern in the US from the Tennessee Valley Authority experiences, this authority created in the 1930s aiming to develop a large region of the country. Linked to a range of international experiences, the authority ways mixed up with actions of groups like the Rockefeller Foundation and infer directly in the understanding of malaria combat in several countries, including Brazil. Based on the documentation produced by the TVA, through research in the USA archives, we intend to discuss such relationships, which represents the political and economic contexts from 1930s to 1940. Thus, this work is a contribution and comprehension of malaria trinity historiography, global health, and TVA.
