Resumen en portugues
Introdução: a obesidade é a mais comum desordem nutricional associada a significativas
doenças crônicas (hipertensão, diabetes mellitus do tipo 2, hipercolesterolemia), bem como
apoplexia, apnéia do sono, problemas articulares e certos tipos de cânceres. A importância
componentes corporais (massa gorda, massa magra, massa óssea e massa residual). A
± 11, 50 anos, massa corporal e estatura 175,8 ± 6,97 cm) e 144 do sexo feminino (idade
No
, IRCQ= 0,88
± 0,66, índice C= 1,22 ± 0,07, CC= 88,82 ± 10,28 cm e %GC= 16,83 ± 7,36 %; e para a
amostra feminina MCT ± 59,31 ± 6,96 kg, IMC= 21,79 ± 2,45 kg/m2
, IRCQ= 0,76 ± 0,14,
cardiovasculares.
Resumen en ingles
Introduction: obesity is the most common nutritional disorder associated with significant
chronicle diseases. (hypertension, type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypercholesterolemy), as well
as apoplexy, sleep apnea, joint problems and certain types of cancers. The importance of
corporal composition evaluation is due to the fact that the corporal weight by itself cannot
be considered as a good parameter to identify the excess or shortage of corporal
components (fat mass, lean mass, osseous mass and residual mass). The obesity inquiry
can be considered even as a limiter factor of the professional performance. This is the case
of the military professional – who has in the aptitude and in the maintenance of its physical
aptness a primordial requirement for its activities of day-by-day. Objective: the present
study had for objective to compare some of the main anthropometric indicators of obesity
(total body mass-TBM, body mass index-BMI, waist-to-hip ratio-WHR, conicity index-C
index and of waist circumference-WC) with body fat percentage (%BF) evaluated by
means of the gold standard (hydrostatic weighing), in military of both sex of the Brazilian
Army. Methods: participated in the study 401 military, being 257 male (age 34,66 ± 11,
50 years, body mass and stature 175,8 ± 6,97 cm) and 144 female (age 29,95 ± 6,89 years,
body mass 59,31 ± 6,96 kg and stature 165,0 ± 5.81 cm), selected by convenience, all residents amongst Rio de Janeiro. In the treatment of the data it was used descriptive
statistics and for average comparison, Pearson correlation (p 0,05). Results: wherein
average values for the male sample it was founded TBM ± 78,43 ± 11,98 kg, BMI= 25,34
± 3,38 kg/m2
, WHR= 0,88 ± 0,66, C index= 1,22 ± 0,07, WC= 88,82 ± 10,28 cm e %BF=
16,83 ± 7,36 %; and for female sample TBM ± 59,31 ± 6,96 kg, BMI= 21,79 ± 2,45 kg/m2
,
WHR= 0,76 ± 0,14, C index= 1,07 ± 0,05, WC= 70,18 ± 5,75 cm e %BF= 23,08 ± 5,85 %.
It had significant and robust correlation of %BF with C index (r= 0,840 for p= 0,00) and
with the WC (r = 0,828 for p = 0,00) in the men and significant among %BF with the WC
(r = 0,709 for p = 0,00) in the women. Conclusion: C index and the WC presented the
most significant correlations, however, the index C, that in men presented greater
robustness, didn’t show the same performance in women. This way, it’s recommended
supplementary studies that may permit not only the interpretation and classification of C
index values, as well as the determination of the association of this anthropometric index
with the risk of cardiovascular diseases.
