The aim of this study was to evaluate in silico data from S. maltophilia strains (n=974) characterized by Multilocus Sequence Typing (MLST) available in the PubMLST database isolated between 1958 and 2020. Strains with full allelic profile in the database (n=972) were analyzed using neighbor-joining phylogenetic tree, the minimum spanning tree tool, and the eBURST algorithm. Simpson's index was applied to calculate the MLST resolving power for typing. The majority of strains deposited was from clinical origin (87.6%) and from Asia (47.1%). The S. maltophilia strains showed high genetic diversity when evaluated, being identified in 679 different ST, a ratio of ~1.4 strain/ST. The Simpson's index calculated was 0.99. The Brazil possess 10 strains deposited identified in seven different ST, being four isolated from human infections. In conclusion, the MLST seems to be a powerful tool for epidemiological investigations of S. maltophilia strains.
