Abstract
This article discusses aspects of the capital project for education, in particular the Covid-19 pandemic in Brazil, which led to the implementation of Emergency Remote Education (ERE) in public higher education institutions. Based on the theoretical frameworks of critical theory, considering the determinations of international organizations, for the privatization and commodification of education, we present the research data on the implantation of the ERE for professors and students of the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF), pointing out the repercussions for the teaching-learning process and for what we call the being-essence form of public education, free, of quality and socially referenced.
