O Boletim traz apenas o indicador envolvendo taxas de ocupação de leitos de UTI para adultos no Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) destinados à Covid-19. O momento atual, que conta com a circulação e crescimento rápido de casos de uma nova variante, a Ômicron, logo após as festas de fim de ano e maior circulação de pessoas, desenha um novo cenário epidemiológico. Em comparação aos registros obtidos em 20 de dezembro de 2021, dados relativos a 5 de janeiro de 2022 mostram aumentos relevantes no número de pacientes internados nesses leitos. A análise aponta que, na entrada de 2022, comparações do indicador entre Unidades da Federação e por Unidade da Federação no decorrer do tempo mostram-se mais complexas. Entre os estados, destacam-se Tocantins (23% para 62%, com queda de 122 para 87 leitos), Piauí (47% para 52%, com aumento de 106 para 130 leitos). Nas capitais, chamam a atenção as taxas críticas observadas em Fortaleza (85%), Maceió (85%) e Goiânia (97%), e as taxas na zona de alerta intermediário observadas em Palmas (66%), Salvador (62%) e Belo Horizonte (73%). Também se sublinha um “estranhamento” frente às taxas do estado do Rio de Janeiro e sua capital, que se mantêm relativamente estáveis em níveis muito inferiores àqueles observados nas demais unidades federativas.
