A good cultural offer is not enough to attract visitors. Socially, this is an issue induced by the distribution of cultural and scientific capital. This paper investigated the interest in scientific themes, expectations about science museums, and different views about science itself through interviews with 108 subjects who never visited the Museum of Life. The methodology was based on the Collective Subject Discourse and Content Analysis. The results indicate expectations related to health, biological and exact sciences themes, and little adherence to human and social sciences. Also, the museum is perceived as a space for citizenship building, learning of future generations, and a vision of science related to its value and role in the future. Knowing these perceptions helps science museums to develop actions capable of attracting the potential public and providing opportunities for their participation in these spaces.
