Em entrevista para o OBHA, Julcéia Camillo, integrante da equipe de editores da Publicação Espécies Nativas da Flora Brasileira de Valor Econômico Atual ou Potencial, do Departamento de Conservação e Manejo de Espécies da Secretaria de Biodiversidade do Ministério do Meio Ambiente, fala sobre o que motivou essa iniciativa e quais os impactos esperados. Além disso, frente a estimativa de que a população hoje usa menos de 30 espécies vegetais em sua base alimentar, e da flora brasileira apenas 8 estão domesticadas, consolidadas no mercado e com cadeias de produção definidas, Julcéia trata do por que isso ocorre e que estratégias necessitam ser implementadas para promover a valorização da biodiversidade no nosso sistema alimentar. Por fim, ao se verificar que a potencialidade da flora nativa brasileira não está refletida nos supermercados, nas feiras e na cozinha do brasileiro, a entrevistada explana sobre os impactos que a valorização da biodiversidade pode exercer na alimentação, na saúde e na sustentabilidade ambiental, social, econômica e cultural brasileira.
