Abstract in Portuguese
São relatados os estudos realizados em um foco autóctone de leishmaniose visceral em Itanhomi (Minas Gerais, Brasil), sendo descritos dez casos dessa doença procedentes daquela localidade e dos municípios vizinhos de Governador Valadares, Tarumirim e Conselho Pena. Foram feitas capturas domiciliarias e Peri-domiciliarias de flebótomos. O Phebotomus longgipalpis representa, aparentemente a espécie transmissora de maior importância.
