The effort to develop competences for Public Health is more and more
determined by an international Health agenda, in which the need for networking and of an interdisciplinary profile stands out. Notwithstanding, it is acknowledged that Information and Communication Technologies can contribute to cooperation and academic innovation. This doctoral thesis investigates the contribution of Information and Communications Technologies to Health Postgraduate institutions. For that purpose, a literature review on technological and political resources that could favor
content sharing between educational institutions was carried done. This review resulted in a first published article under the title Information technology for health education: two revisions and a proposal. Following, the investigation turned toward the teachers' perceptions regarding the incorporation of technologies in their teaching processes. A methodological review was carried out in search for an appropriate instrument which
would be suitable for large scale application. An international internship opportunity led to the outlining of the investigation in Spain, Portugal and Brazil. The result of this review, the selection of the instrument and the adaptation process are described in a second article named Information and Communication Technologies: Assessment Tool for Health Postgraduate Institutions. A third one - Tecnologías de Información y Comunicación en Instituciones de Postgrados de Salud: Evidencias y Esteriotipos - accounts for the pilot application of the adapted version of the instrument to a Health
postgraduate education center in Barcelona, Spain. The three productions highlight the need to overcome a stereotyped vision of technology’s usages, accordingly to which, inherent qualities of those resources produce the expected benefits (networking, cooperation, creativity).
