In Brazil, the muscoids of the Sarcophagidae family besides being important mechanical vectors, acting as irritants and spoilage agents and producing in the man and animal miíases, have great relevance for the forensic entomology, assisting researchers in the estimation of the Postmortem Interval (IPM). Based on research and studies, it is possible to understand the animal's biological cycle and to apply them as another tool that will help experts and researchers in this area. The objective of this work was to study the bionomic aspects of the species Malacophagomyia filamenta under laboratory conditions. The specimens were collected at FIOCRUZ campus with a modified Shannon trap, where the collected specimens were taken to LEMEF to be colonized and kept in an air-conditioned room (B.O.D. type), regulated at a temperature of 29 ± 1 °C, 60 ± 10% RH and 12-hour photoperiod. Data on the weight of L3 larvae that abandoned the diet based on putrefied beef were recorded - the mean was 31.24 mg, the weight of larvae that originated male adults was 28.65 mg and of females was 32.89 mg; being the minimum weight of 20 mg to initiate the pupation process Regarding the duration of the larval period, the results were of 6.31 days with viability of 86%; pupal period was 7.57 days with viability of 81.98%; and the neolarva period to adult of 13.71 days with viability of 62%. The mean longevity time for males and females was 67.33 and 58.33 days, respectively, with the maximum longevity reaching the 84th day. The percentage of males and females emerged were respectively 39.5 and 60.5% - with a sex ratio of 0.6 shows a tendency to emergence of females. The neolarva period to adult ranged from 9 to 28 days, the experiment counted 3,774 larvae deposited on the substrate, between the 5th and 43rd day of observation, with the number of maximum larvae deposited by female of 27 on the 7th day.
