Recebemos, produzimos e compartilhamos informação a todo instante no mundo virtual, fortalecemos laços afetivos com familiares e amigos, além da possibilidade de criarmos novos laços com novas pessoas. As mídias sociais são grandes facilitadoras da comunicação, por proporcionarem de forma rápida a disseminação da informação. Ao recebermos uma mensagem, confiamos na pessoa que está compartilhando e não analisamos elementos básicos para verificar se a notícia é falsa ou não. O objetivo do projeto é compreender como a Competência em Informação pode contribuir para minimizar os efeitos provocados pela desinformação em torno das Fake News lançadas nas mídias sociais, em especial na área da saúde. Para tanto, faremos uma pesquisa exploratória em que será realizado um levantamento bibliográfico na literatura nacional e internacional sobre os temas: fake news, desinformação e competência em informação. Apontamos como possível solução minimizar o efeito de desinformação a Competência em Informação, uma vez que o cidadão competente analisa de forma crítica e ética a informação.
