Resumen en portugues
Este artigo apresenta os resultados de um estudo qualitativo com famílias que visitaram a exposição “Oceanos” no Museu da Vida, um museu interativo no Rio de Janeiro. A exposição teve como objetivo informar e sensibilizar o público sobre os oceanos abordando sua diversidade ambiental, riqueza e biodiversidade e a ameaça a sua preservação representada pelas atividades antropogênicas. As visitas de dez grupos familiares foram registradas em vídeo e suas conversas analisadas utilizando o software Dedoose® buscando compreender os processos de apropriação da exposição por parte dos visitantes. A exposição “Oceanos” conseguiu atrair a atenção dos visitantes, que se mantiveram bastante interessados e focados na experiência durante toda a visita. Os resultados sugerem que houve uma apropriação dos conteúdos da exposição, por parte dos grupos familiares, num processo colaborativo socialmente mediado e que o objetivo de sensibilizar o público para questões ambientais, como por exemplo o lixo marinho, foi alcançado.
Resumen en ingles
This article presents the results of a qualitative study with families visiting the exhibition “Oceans” in the Museum of Life, a hands-on science museum in Rio de Janeiro. The objective of the exhibition was to inform and engage the public on the oceans by addressing their environmental diversity, richness and biodiversity and the threat to their preservation represented by anthropogenic activities. Visits of ten family groups were videotaped and their interactions and conversations analyzed using Dedoose® software to understand the learning processes of the visitors. The exhibition “Oceans” succeed in attracting the attention of the families, who remained very interested and focused on the experience throughoutthe visit. The evidences indicated that the learning of the families in the exhibition occurred as a socially mediated collaborative process and that the objective of raising public awareness on environmental issues, for example the marine litter, was reached.

El presente artículo es un estudio cualitativo con familias que visitaron la exposición “Océanos” en el Museo de la Vida, museo interactivo en Río de Janeiro. La exposición tuvo como objetivo informar y sensibilizar al público sobre los océanos abordando su diversidad ambiental, riqueza y biodiversidad y la amenaza a su preservación representada por las actividades antropogénicas. Las visitas de diez grupos familiares se registraron en video y sus conversaciones analizadas utilizando el software Dedoose® buscando comprendersus procesos de apropiación. La exposición “Océanos” logró atraer la atención de los visitantes, que se mantuvieron bastante interesados y enfocados en la experiencia durante toda la visita. Los resultados sugieren que hubo una apropiación de los contenidos de la exposición por parte de los grupos familiares en un proceso colaborativo socialmente mediado y que el objetivo de sensibilizar al público sobre las cuestiones ambientales, por ejemplo, de la basura marina, fue alcanzado.
