Introdução: A comunicação está presente nas diversas atividades e na prática da vida social da humanidade. Objetivo: Identificar a percepção do agente comunitário de saúde (ACS) sobre a alimentação saudável e o impacto da imprensa no seu trabalho. Métodos: Pesquisa qualitativa com oficinas em três unidades de saúde, selecionadas intencionalmente nas regiões de Paciência, Ilha do Governador e Taquara (Rio de Janeiro/RJ) e análise temática. Resultados: A amostra contou com 37 agentes comunitários de saúde, cujas falas foram analisadas e agrupadas em quatro temas principais: “condições socioeconômica e acesso à alimentação saudável”, “mídia de massa e alimentação saudável”, “alimentação” “atuação do agente comunitário no município do Rio de Janeiro”. Segundo esses trabalhadores do Sistema Único de Saúde, a imprensa não promove saúde e se apresenta como um desafio para a realização de suas atividades. A televisão foi apontada como principal meio de acesso à informação e o acesso à alimentação saudável está ligado às condições econômicas das famílias. Conclusão: Para os agentes comunitários de saúde, os meios de comunicação de massa não são promotores da alimentação saudável, e parte de seu trabalho está mais relacionado à prevenção de doenças do que à promoção da saúde.
Resumen en ingles
Introduction: Communication is present in the various activities and in the practices of the social life of humanity. Objective: This study aimed to identify the community health agents’ perception regarding health promotion and healthy eating as well as how they use the information concerning healthy eating showed in the press in their daily work. Methods: qualitative research with workshops in three health units of Rio de Janeiro/RJ with thematic analysis. Results: Three workshops were conducted with 37 community health agents, in which their narratives were thematically analyzed and grouped into four main topics: “socioeconomic conditions and access to healthy food”, “mass media and healthy eating”, “ eating”, “community health agent performance in Rio de Janeiro city”. In this study, the Brazilian Unified Health System agents highlighted that the press does not promote health and prove to be a hindrance to the performance of their activities. Television was conceived as the main gateway to information, and also the access to healthy food is linked to the family economic conditions. Conclusion: Mass media does not promote healthy eating and part of their work is more related to disease prevention than to health promotion.
