A utilização de substâncias psicoativas tem crescido nas últimas décadas, junto a isso os problemas de saúde relacionados a elas, sendo considerado um grande e complexo problema de saúde pública. O ministério da saúde, com o intuito de ofertar tratamento especializado a pacientes que fazem uso comprometedor de substâncias psicoativas, criou o Centro de Atenção Psicossocial Álcool e Drogas (CAPS AD) para oferecer acolhimento e atendimento terapêutico diário à população com transtornos causados pelo uso abusivo de substâncias psicoativas, como álcool e outras drogas. Apesar da existência de um centro específico para atendimento desses usuários, é de suma relevância discutir a assistência ao usuário de drogas na Atenção Primária à Saúde, trazendo ao usuário a importância de se inserir em todos os pontos da rede de atenção. Sendo assim, este trabalho busca apresentar um relato de experiência de uma cirurgiã-dentista, residente em saúde família, sobre sua vivência em momento de estágio optativo no Centro de Atenção Psicossocial, álcool e outras drogas (CAPS AD) do município de Camaçari-BA, no período de Março a Junho de 2017.
