SOBRE O ACERVO DA COLEÇÃO DOUTOR DURVAL TAVARES DE LUCENA, DOADO À COLEÇÃO DE MOLUSCOS DO INSTITUTO OSWALDO CRUZ

A preservação das coleções biológicas é de grande importância para o desenvolvimento de atividades científicas. O estudo desses acervos permite a elaboração de teses, dissertações e publicações sobre diversos grupos biológicos, contribuindo para o conhecimento acerca da biodiversidade. A coleção malacológica que pertenceu ao Dr. Tavares de Lucena (Coleção Doutor Durval Tavares de Lucena) \2013 pesquisador e professor de Parasitologia da Faculdade de Medicina do Recife \2013 é um acervo valioso, iniciado por volta da década de 40, sendo, posteriormente, doado à Coleção de Moluscos do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz (CMIOC). Para a inserção dos lotes na CMIOC, o acervo foi triado, sendo todos os exemplares contados e identificados até o menor nível taxonômico possível. Foram tomadas as dimensões (mm) do maior exemplar de cada lote o com auxílio de um paquímetro digital Vonder e todos os exemplares foram acondicionados em frascos de vidro com tampa e identificados com etiqueta, contendo o número do lote, a identificação, o local de procedência e o número da ficha original para, posteriormente, receber o número de catálogo da CMIOC A Coleção Dr. Durval Tavares de Lucena possui 644 lotes de conchas de moluscos límnicos, terrestres e uma concha de marinho. O acervo é constituído principalmente de moluscos coletados na região Nordeste, com predomínio de espécimes da família Planorbidae, incluindo material tipo, refletindo o grande interesse do Dr. Lucena no estudo dos moluscos transmissores da esquistossomose no Brasil. Além destes, há lotes que permitem ampliar a distribuição geográfica de gêneros e espécies, como em Ancylidae. O acervo contém material tipo, com conchas do molusco planorbídeo Antillorbis nordestensis, espécie originalmente descrita como Tropicorbis nordestensis por Lucena, em 1954, a partir de espécimes coletados no município de Águas Belas, no estado de Pernambuco. A riqueza de conchas e o bom estado de conservação deste acervo contribuirão para a ampliação e o enriquecimento da CMIOC, segunda maior coleção de moluscos do Brasil.
