Os ácaros do gênero Geckobia infestam lagartos da África, Ásia, Oceania e Américas. Estes ácaros são comumente encontrados em lagartos, podendo interferir negativamente na sobrevivência do hospedeiro em períodos de oscilação reprodutiva de parasitos. Elevadas taxas de parasitismo podem comprometer a saúde do hospedeiro e consequentemente reduzir o número de espécimes saudáveis entre estes. A descrição de espécies inéditas que parasitam um determinado hospedeiro torna-se mais complexa e ampla, pois pode agrupar outras interações ainda desconhecidas, como patógeno e vetor/ vetor e reservatório. Neste contexto, este estudo objetiva descrever duas espécies novas do gênero Geckobia. Os espécimes foram coletados na cidade de Arequipa, Cerro Verde, em região subtropical dos Andes na vertente do Pacífico, Peru. Foi elaborada chave dicotômica para espécies do gênero Geckobia com distribuição no Continente Americano, mapa marcando a ocorrência das espécies do gênero na América do Sul e check list atualizado com a distribuição das espécies por todas as ecozonas terrestres e seus respectivos hospedeiros. Este estudo oferece base de dados atualizada e subsídios para demais trabalhos realizados com o gênero Geckobia.
