Abstract
The Database optimization of the Reference Fungi Culture Collection of the National Institute of Quality Control in Health through Microsoft Access 2000 software, aims to provide security to data treatment, improve the tracing of data relationships, and integrate other data banks used on the Reference Fungi Sector. New data bases were created based on modifications and merges from existing data bases, originating a Relational Data Base Management System. The ABNT NBR ISO/IEC 17025:2005 Norm and Microsoft Access 2000’s resources provided the research base for the new Fungi Culture Collection Data Base of INCQS, currently used on stock control, production, documentation, and as a management tool for the Reference Fungi Sector. The data base was also able to provide data for the lineages available at the Institute’s Internet portal, as well as create a more interactive environment for the less advanced user.
