Resumo
hipertensão arterial é um importante fator de risco para as doenças cardiovasculares, cerebrovasculares e renais. A percepção e conhecimento dos hipertensos acerca da hipertensão e sua adesão ao tratamento medicamentoso são fundamentais para nortear à assistência a saúde a este grupo. OBJETIVO: Analisar a percepção dos portadores de hipertensão sobre a doença e sua adesão ao tratamento medicamentoso na Estratégia de Saúde Família. MÉTODO: Estudo exploratório, com abordagem qualitativa, desenvolvido na Saúde da Família do município de Recife. Fizeram parte do estudo hipertensos cadastrados sorteados aleatoriamente, aos quais foi aplicado uma entrevista semi-estruturada. Para classificação dos hipertensos no que se refere a sua adesão foram utilizados os métodos de avaliação de adesão: pela autopercepção do usuário e adesão percebida pelo pesquisador. Os resultados demonstram a dificuldade dos hipertensos em adotar medidas de controle, que exigem engajamento, persistência e compreensão acerca do seu adoecimento. É necessário que na avaliação da adesão sejam analisados os processos de abordagem desses usuários. O cuidado deve levar em conta os sentidos e significados que envolvem uma doença que não tem cura e, portanto, exige por maior tempo persistência tanto do usuário quanto dos serviços de saúde

Hypertension arterial is one of the most important risk factor to cardiovascular, cerebrovascular
and renal diseases. Perception and knowledge of the persons who has hypertension about this
disease and their adherence to the drugs treatment are fundamentals to direct the health help to
this group. Objective: analyse the perception of the hypertension patients about this disease and
their adherence to the drugs treatment at the health family strategy. Method: study exploratory,
with qualitative approach, which was developed at Health Family in the Recife city. Patients
registered, who was randomly selected, did part of this study, that it was made through an
interview semi-structured. To their classification about the adherence, it was used the selfevaluation
method (with the self-perception of the patient) and the research perception. Results
showed the difficulty that these patients have to take the control attitudes, which demand
engagement, persistence and their understanding of the illness. It is necessary that at the
adherence evaluation are reviewed the approach procedures of these users. It cares must
considerate the senses and the meanings which involve the disease that has no cure and therefore
requires a longer persistence of the user and the health service.
