Introdução: A leishmaniose cutânea (LC) causada por Leishmania braziliensis é uma doença parasitária transmitida ao homem por flebótomo do gênero Lutzomia. Ainda não são bem conhecidos os reservatórios urbanos da L. braziliensis. O cão é um reservatório importante da Leishmania infantum, mas a participação desse animal na cadeia de transmissão da L. braziliensis não é documentada.
