Resumen en portugues
Este trabalho mostra a relevância das coleções pessoais da Biblioteca de História das Ciências e da Saúde, uma biblioteca que tem a responsabilidade por salvaguardar a produção de personalidades dos campos das ciências e da saúde, que tenham contribuído para a história da saúde, sobretudo no Brasil e na Fundação Oswaldo Cruz. A Coleção Lourival Ribeiro é o acervo de um médico e historiador da medicina brasileira cujos itens representam uma variedade de temas na área da saúde, tais como tuberculose, radiologia, história da medicina, incluindo documentos biográficos de médicos e discursos acadêmicos, materiais que apontam o decurso profissional e da produção científica deste pesquisador. A pesquisa se desenvolve em torno das abordagens quantitativa e qualitativa. É um estudo exploratório pois observa a constituição da coleção usando como procedimentos a pesquisa em fontes de informação impressa e em bases de dados. Foram elaboradas cinco estratégias de busca cujos resultados revelam os assuntos gerais e específicos predominantes na coleção do médico. Ao final das análises, é apresentada a forma como se dá o tratamento técnico, a disponibilização para uso e as medidas para salvaguarda desta coleção e de todo o acervo da biblioteca.

This paper shows the relevance of the personal collections of the Biblioteca de História das Ciências e da Saúde, a library that has the responsibility for safeguarding the production of personalities from the fields of science and health professionals, who have contributed to the history of health, especially in Brazil and the Fundação Oswaldo Cruz. Collection Lourival Ribeiro is the collection of a physician and historian of medicine Brazilian whose items represent a variety of themes in the health area, such as tuberculosis, radiology, medical history, including biographical documents of medical and academic discourses, materials that link the professional and scientific production during this researcher. The research develops around the quantitative and qualitative approaches. It is an exploratory study notes for the establishment of the collection using procedures such as the search for sources of printed information and databases. Five search strategies whose results reveal the general and specific issues prevalent in the collection of the doctor have been prepared.
