Com imagens de época e entrevistas com pesquisadores de história da saúde e do cinema, o documentário resgata dois filmes exibidos em 1911 no pavilhão brasileiro da Exposição Internacional de Higiene em Dresden, Alemanha. Tematizando o combate à febre amarela no Rio de Janeiro e a recém descoberta doença de Chagas em Lassance, Minas Gerais, são os primeiros filmes científicos brasileiros conhecidos, marcando o pioneirismo do Brasil e do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz na utilização de imagens em movimento na comunicação e informação em saúde.
