Introdução: A Bahia possui a mais rica fauna de triatomíneos do Brasil (25 espécies). Uma das
últimas espécies descritas, e menos conhecida, é Triatoma sherlocki, considerada a mais
atípica no complexo T. brasiliensis por exibir asas micrópteras, o que dificulta o voo. Por outro
lado, espécimes de T. sherlocki possuem pernas mais longas que as outras espécies do
complexo. Apesar da espécie ocorrer predominantemente entre rochas no ambiente silvestre
há registro de espécimes colonizando habitações humanas, evidenciando o risco de
domiciliação de T. sherlocki.
