Introdução: A leishmaniose visceral humana (LVH) é uma doença insidiosa, com
espectro amplo, variando desde a infecção assintomática a casos com doença grave.
Estudos em vários países da África, na Itália e no Brasil indicam que menos de 10% dos
casos infectados com Leishmania sp. evoluem para a forma clássica da doença
