A Leishmaniose visceral (LV) é endêmica no Brasil e tem apresentado
um perfil de expansão territorial, como o que vem ocorrendo no município de Salinas da
Margarida-Bahia. Desde 2003 quando ocorreu o primeiro caso de leishmaniose no
município, 82 pessoas e 149 cães já foram identificados como infectados
