desenvolvidas no trabalho.
no trabalho coletivo.
Abstract
Introduction: Research on the perceptions made by Stricto sensu alumni, provides the basis for analysing how the knowledge and skills acquired in such courses can relate to the skill paths and changes made at work. Goal: To analyse the professional path of alumni of the Fiocruz Master’s Degree in Africa, offered in both Angola and Mozambique via the Health
Structuring Cooperation, from 2008 to 2013, in an attempt to understand the impact of those courses as regards the labour process of those workers. Methodology: Research of a descriptive and exploratory nature undertaken on Master's Degree alumni in Public Health and Health Sciences of the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation, who graduated between 2008 and
2013, via Brazil's International Cooperation with Angola and Mozambique. The changes to job position and duties were analysed after completion of the Master's Degree; their perception of the changes in work practices from a personal, professional and teamwork perspective; the degree of job satisfaction and the impact that the Master's Degree has had on
how they undertake their jobs. An online questionnaire was used for data collection. Results and Conclusions: From a total of 36 alumni, the response rate was of 47.2%. Currently all alumni continue working in institutions of a public nature. There were changes to job positions and duties in both groups researched, with a predominance of management, research
and teaching positions. The percentage of those choosing "important" as regards the impact of the Master's Degree towards their professionals lives, was high. The graduates of both groups chose "very important" as regards the impact of the following attributes "Academic and
Vocational training", "Personal growth" and "Expanding the relationship network". There is evidence that the graduates have applied in the workplace, some of the skills acquired during the courses. They have also indicated that the personal, professional and teamwork changes,
have been positive. Most of the respondents consider the training received as major towards undertaking their jobs. These results are relevant towards higher education, given that over recent years, many resources have been invested in increasing the number of vacancies for foreign professionals, as evidenced by the growing number of programmes and institutions
involved in the International Cooperation. It is essential that higher education leaders in Brazil have a better understanding of how these degrees contribute towards those foreign professionals.
