O texto denuncia as consequências devastadoras da aprovação da reforma trabalhista pelo governo Temer, descrevendo-a como uma catástrofe sanitária que afeta diretamente a saúde e o bem-estar dos trabalhadores. Ao legalizar acordos que diminuem os direitos dos trabalhadores e privilegiam os empregadores, a reforma é criticada por retroceder a condições de trabalho comparáveis aos séculos da escravidão.
Entre as mudanças mais preocupantes estão a diminuição da competência dos sindicatos, a permissão de acordos individuais desfavoráveis aos trabalhadores e a criação do trabalho intermitente, que não oferece garantias trabalhistas. A reforma também reduz a proteção às gestantes e às mulheres que amamentam, expondo-as a ambientes insalubres.
Os críticos apontam que a flexibilização das leis trabalhistas não gera empregos nem reduz o desemprego, como evidenciado por experiências internacionais. Além disso, a reforma é vista como uma demolição das conquistas históricas dos trabalhadores e um retrocesso no processo civilizatório do país. Diante da resistência crescente, incluindo convocações para uma greve geral, o texto conclui com a incerteza sobre o futuro do projeto no Senado Federal e a esperança de que o país não esteja rumando para um declínio civilizacional que prejudicaria as próximas gerações.
