O texto aborda duas temáticas importantes no contexto da saúde: os cuidados paliativos e a importância da água para a saúde humana. Destaca-se que a cura nem sempre é a única alternativa para diversas formas de adoecimento, e em muitos casos, evitar procedimentos dolorosos e invasivos pode trazer alívio ao sofrimento e proporcionar uma existência mais digna, inclusive em momentos próximos à morte. A reportagem entrevistou especialistas, profissionais de saúde, familiares e usuários do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) para discutir essa abordagem. Além disso, ressalta-se a relevância da água para a saúde, contextualizando-a dentro das determinações sociais da saúde. O acesso adequado à água potável é fundamental para a saúde humana, porém mais de 800 milhões de pessoas no mundo não têm acesso a ela, e 2,4 bilhões ainda carecem de saneamento básico, o que contribui para a contaminação das fontes de água. Por fim, o texto menciona a intenção do ministro da Saúde, Ricardo Barros, de instituir planos de saúde mais acessíveis e simplificar a regulação da Agência Nacional de Saúde Suplementar, medida que gerou críticas de entidades de saúde pública e defesa do consumidor. Essas entidades argumentam que tais medidas beneficiariam apenas as operadoras de planos de saúde, sem melhorar e até piorar a situação do SUS.
