A Revista enfatiza a importância de democratizar os meios de comunicação e diversificar as fontes de informação, bem como quebrar o monopólio na informática através do uso de software livre para beneficiar a sociedade brasileira. No entanto, destaca que a comunicação em saúde vai além disso, conforme discutido no I Seminário Nacional de Informação, Comunicação e Informática em Saúde, promovido pelo Conselho Nacional de Saúde (CNS). Critica a forma como a saúde é tratada na mídia, muitas vezes focada no interesse e consumo individual, além de ser comercializada em favor de clínicas, planos de saúde e indústrias privadas. Também menciona a limitação na visão de comunicação na saúde pública, frequentemente reduzida a campanhas pouco esclarecedoras e materiais com linguagem infantilizada. O artigo destaca a importância da mobilização e articulação dos conselhos de saúde como um caminho prioritário na comunicação em saúde, em vez de depender apenas da grande mídia. Propõe a inclusão digital e a criação de uma plenária virtual permanente entre os conselhos como uma forma de comunicação mais direta com os usuários do Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) e os profissionais de saúde. Além disso, enfatiza a necessidade de descentralizar e diversificar os fluxos de informação e participação na comunicação em saúde, permitindo que conselhos de saúde, movimentos sociais, entidades sindicais e instituições exerçam seu direito de comunicar. A comunicação é vista como uma ferramenta de poder, onde diferentes instituições e grupos políticos competem para dar sentido a informações e fatos. Por fim, o texto ressalta que a comunicação em saúde deve ser vista como um diálogo e vínculo essencial com o outro, promovendo a interação e mobilização na sociedade. A comunicação não deve ser unidirecional, mas sim uma troca constante de informações e sentidos entre as partes envolvidas.
