A Revista discute a importância das reformas no contexto brasileiro, destacando a Reforma Sanitária como um exemplo bem-sucedido. Enquanto as reformas em discussão, como a da Previdência e a Tributária, são centradas nas finanças do governo, a Reforma Sanitária tinha como objetivo principal assegurar e promover a saúde e a qualidade de vida do cidadão. Ela se destacou por manter princípios claros de universalidade, integralidade e equidade, que também foram adotados no Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS) criado em 1988. Além disso, a Reforma Sanitária se comprometeu com a transparência e o diálogo, envolvendo a sociedade em discussões e debates. Sua lição principal é que o foco nas necessidades e bem-estar do cidadão é fundamental para o sucesso de reformas, diferenciando-se das reformas que parecem priorizar apenas o equilíbrio das contas do governo. Portanto, a Reforma Sanitária serve como um modelo valioso para orientar as reformas em curso no país.
