This study aimed to analyze the influence of light and nutrient availability on the chemical composition and growth of Kalanchoe pinnata sprouts by parameters such as number of leaves, total length, and biomass yield and leaf area. The plants were grown in experimental design of randomized blocks with factorial 4x2 with four replications, with four types of substrates [poultry litter-CA, manure-EB, potassium chloride-K (as potassium source) and charcoal-TPI] and two types of lighting (shade 50% and sunlight). Plants grown in shade developed better than those exposed to sunlight. Among the types of substrates, mixtures containing
TPI + organic fertilizers CA and EB showed higher growth and contributed to higher biomass yield. Plants grown in direct sunlight showed the highest total flavonoid content expressed as rutin than plants grown in
shade, demonstrating the importance of UV radiation in the biosynthesis of flavonoids.
