This dissertation aimed to analyze the madness experienced by Mariana, Rogério and Natan between the end of XX century and at the beginning of XXI century, in Grande ABC region, in São Paulo state. At the time, the psychiatric reform was current, intending to pass over the psychiatry hospitals and the isolation idea, in favour of mental health community centers and their social inclusion. The main sources are Mariana, Rogério and Natan testimonies. Also we used their artistic and literary production, like Mariana’s monograph, Rogério’s poetry, and Natan’s painting. The life history of Mariana until she became ill, was marked by gender question. Rogério’s life until he became ill was market by violence because of drugs users setting and by the early paternity. Natan’s life until he became ill was marked by troubles in school and work relationships. The reports revealed that when sick, the three subjects unveiled situations that bothered him, but that did not appeared when they tried to lead a normal life: a bad marriage, a loveless relationship and problems at school and at work. On the institutional experience, we could notice that during the period when Mariana, Rogério and Natan were being treated in community mental health service there were more social integration possibilities than in the period they were in psychiatric clinics.
