Abstract
This study approaches the health, cultural spaces and their relations with territory. It has as an empiric field the Museu da Maré, situated in the favela 's complex of Maré – homonymous neighborhood of the city of Rio de Janeiro/RJ. To realize this research, we present a critical discussion about the theme of culture and cultural added value, health in its expanded concept, territory – geographic and existential – and the right to the city. Authors such as Felix Guattari and Suely Rolnik, Georges Canguilhem, Milton Santos and Boaventura Souza Santos were used. We also discussed the role of museums and their relationship with the territory, introducing studies in the field of Social Museology as allies in the production of health in a counterhegemonic perspective. The main objective was to understand how cultural spaces can produce health and how the relations between these spaces and the territory cross this process. For this, we identified the health production tools present in the museum; the relations of meaning and the practices that exists that approximate the areas of health and culture. In the fieldwork, we have done eight semi-structured interviews with workers and museum visitors, in addition to a conversation circle on the theme of health, culture and territory. The results of the fieldwork show how the plasticity of the uses of space and practices of social museology are allied to the production of health, with the valuation and appropriation of the memory of the inhabited territory as tools for expanding worlds and affirming the right to the city.
