Abstract
The main objective of the present study is the analysis, via aspects of the Brazilian Afrocentrist theory of Lélia González, of the Domingos Espaciais activity, an extension project in the dissemination of Astronomy, carried out by the Planetarium team of the Science and Life Museum, located in the municipality of Duque de Caxias , Rio de Janeiro. Linked to the Cecierj Foundation, the museum is located in an area where there are few cultural facilities available and plays a fundamental role in popularizing scientific themes. Our analysis path started with the compilation and examination of theatrical scripts, photos and footage of the event. At the same time, we turn to the reading of literary essays that emphasize that the political-cultural field of Scientific Dissemination, especially in Brazil, is ideologically enveloped by whitening and Eurocentric classifications that underestimate the importance of the African and American contribution. In this context, the present study is studied in order to highlight an Afro-centered perspective, addressed in multiple aspects, namely: aesthetic, dialectical, historical, cultural and philosophical, in “Spatial Sundays”. Therefore, this work aims to contribute to the reflection on the myth of racial democracy, the whitening ideology and reaffirm successful scientific dissemination practices that do not opt for the silencing and concealment of black and indigenous culture and corporeality. The Latin American category GONZALEZ(1988) and the dialogue between Art and Science will be taken as the basis for the beginning of the discussion.
