Abstract in Portuguese
Devido a colonização brasileira,
Abstract
Obstetric violence is characterized by actions and procedures that cause pain or physical and/or
emotional discomfort and generate lifelong sequelae for women who experience this violence.
However due to the lack of knowledge some of these violence are seen as normal procedures
during pregnancy and childbirth. Due to the Brazilian colonization, marked by the inferiority
of blacks and the prejudices that stigmatized this population, obstetric violence occurs more
often in black women, when compared to white women. This is due to institutional racism. For
this work, the narratives of black and brown women who attended the Health Unic System in
Ceilândia, discrict of Distrito Federal, were heard, with the objective of reporting the
experiences of these women, in order to identify possible discriminatory acts and to evaluate if
the treatment received by these women matches the good care practices according to the
HumanizaSUS policy. It was found that all interviewees experienced violence, although they
were seen as a common aid or procedure in the medical routine. In view of the implementation
of policies to combat obstetric violence and racial discrimination in the Health Unic System, it
is possible to realize that they have not yet been successfully implemented in the studied
territory.
