Abstract in Portuguese
Abstract
The proposal of this research is to investigate the moral judgement competence
development and the relationship with the learning-teaching environment in higher
education for nursing students in a public University of Rio de Janeiro. It is a case
study quality-quantitative. The study used the Moral Judgment Test to assess the moral
judgement competence level of students in the first and final year of the course to
compare the results between the groups. The investigation about the learning
environment was qualitative. The technique of Focus Group was applied to collect
information about factors that interfere on moral judgement competence development,
as role taking and guided reflection opportunities, support in challenging situations and
teaching ethic. The main results of the study show that the nursing students have a
moral jugement competence regression over their years of study, the teaching-learning
environment is unfavorable to moral competence development. Moral judgement
competence regression is correlated to an unfavorable environment for education. The
MJT is effective as a tool to assess the impact of learning environment on the
moral competence development of groups.
