Abstract
Much research has been done on textbooks in the present tense. These researches
have generated several debates on the use of these bibliographies in the schooling
process. Therefore, many transformations occur in the structure of the copies to suit
current standards, such as the use of artistic languages to articulate the curricular
components. The present work analyzes three didactic collections of Biological
Sciences of the second segment of Elementary School of the National Program of
Didactic Book 2017 with the objective of verifying how the authors use the comics
and comic strips; namely: to introduce concepts; in the writing of the chapters and in
the complementation of the curricular contents of the discipline. Comic books are
most commonly used in the exercises at the end of each chapter to problematize the
knowledge covered. It has come to the conclusion that there is a vast field to be
explored in the relation between science and art in comics in the textbook collections
and in their use within formal education.
